Full-time · 2–4 week paid trial, then a full-time role in the UAE
About us
Zurbagun Robotics is a robotics venture studio in the UAE. We take off-the-shelf robots (robot dogs, humanoids, wheeled machines) and teach them new jobs: inspecting construction sites, cleaning, working with people at events.
We want a robot to learn a new job in weeks, not years. That takes one platform for every robot: an agent that understands the task, navigation, skills, fleet management, telemetry. Projects change, the platform stays.
Several people already write code for it: researchers from a robotics lab, contractors and partners. You'll build the architecture from scratch.
What you'll do
- Design the platform architecture and write its core. You'll spend about half your time writing code yourself.
- Lead the team and contractors: break down work, estimate, run sprints, review code, accept deliverables.
- Set up shared repositories, CI and the rules everyone codes by.
- Decide what we build ourselves and what we take from open source.
- Test on real robots, in the office and on site.
- Give a technical assessment of new studio projects: can it be done, with what, and at what cost.
- Hire engineers, run interviews, help junior people grow.
Your first 2–4 weeks
- Get to know the existing code and propose a platform architecture: a diagram and a short document.
- Set up the repository, CI and team rules.
- Run the first sprint with the team on the robot dog (map, navigation, skills for the agent) and accept the result.
Requirements
- 5+ years in production software, including 2+ years leading a team or a technical area.
- You've built systems that work with hardware in the real world: robots, drones, embedded devices, IoT, device fleets.
