About us
Zurbagun Robotics is a robotics venture studio in the UAE. We take off-the-shelf robots (robot dogs, humanoids, wheeled machines) and teach them new jobs: inspecting construction sites, cleaning, patrolling technical facilities, working with people at events.
The studio's engineers build one shared platform for all the robots. Each project, meaning each new job for a robot, is run by one person: the project lead. Without a lead, an idea doesn't move past the first stage, so this is the role we're hiring for first.
Our project lead runs the whole project: from the idea and the first customer conversations to the pilot and the decision on whether it becomes a company. If you see yourself as a project manager (PM) or a product manager and want to take a product all the way to the customer yourself, this role is for you.
Who we're looking for
Two paths work:
- You've lived in the UAE for years and know the local market and its people: developers, contractors, FM companies, government clients.
- You know an industry deeply and are ready to move to the UAE. We're interested in warehouse robots and robot fleet management systems (RMS), construction and site supervision, cleaning and FM, manufacturing and welding. We'll help with the visa and the move.
What you'll do
Run the project
- Pick a project from the studio portfolio where you have connections or expertise: construction inspection, cleaning, facade inspection and cleaning, facility rounds, robots at events. You can also bring your own idea.
- Own the whole project: plan, timeline, stage budget and outcome. Decide where the project goes next and defend that decision to the studio.
- Decide what the product is: what the robot does on site, for whom, what we build now and what comes later. Write the requirements for the engineers.
- Build the project team: assign work to platform engineers and contractors, accept deliverables, run the on-site pilot.
- Once a month, bring the project to the studio's investment committee: what we learned, what's next, how much money it needs.
Market and customers
- Map the market: who pays and how much, who the competitors are, whether there's a Chinese equivalent at a fraction of the price.
- Talk to customers: developers, general contractors, FM companies, malls, hotels, warehouses, government clients. Find the ones ready for a pilot.
- Work out the unit economics: does the robot pay off for the customer, and what do we earn.
